The Munchkin very much liked Tilly. In fact, here in the photo he seems to have decided to share his Lego with her! An honour indeed.
So he was sad to hear that Tilly Friend had died. A long discussion ensued about what "putting to sleep meant" at the end of which he concluded, very matter of factly as only an eight year old can, that it is "a nicer way of saying kill". Ahem.
He agreed that he could make a nice card to send to cheer up the folks.
There is Tilly, amongst the flowers as the Munchkin remembers her...
Would you like to see what he wrote inside? I wasn't sure if this was going to make my Mum laugh or cry! (Click the photo to enlarge it if you like.)
We decided it would also be nice to send a photo with the card. Sadly, the world's most annoying printer (that being my printer, by the way), decided it would not communicate, so here, Mum and Dad is the Munchkin in his bid to cheer you up this week...
Happy weekend, everyone.

Aaahhhh poor Tilly friend, she looks like she was a gorgeous cat, she looks very sweet natured. Thank you for showing us Munchkin's card, it's so sweet, and hilarious! I just love his message, that really is so funny. The drawing on the front is truly splendid, so please let munchkin know I think he's a very good artist. But the inside of the card, what a hoot! Tilly looks like a really lovely friend. It's so hard to lose a pet, they do really become part of the family - but it sounds like she had a long and happy life.

ReplyDeleteLosing a much loved pet is devastating. I still miss our first two dogs like crazy, and we talk about them all the time.
So sorry to read about Tilly. It's such a difficult thing to do. I had to do it last month with my Dad's dog, also called Tilly. They are just so special.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely of Munchkin to want to cheer up your parents.

ReplyDeleteDear Hen
ReplyDeleteSad news of the lovely Tilly. Oh our four legged friends are so very special to us aren't they? Sending big hugs for your Mum and Dad.
As for the Munchkin's card and daffodils - so very lovely and so wonderfully child-like. Give him a hug too!
And of course, one for yourself :-)

Hi Hen
ReplyDeleteA303 - nowhere near as bad as you imagine provided you avoid the A30 which I'm guessing is the route you would anticipate. They seem to be sending everyone that way. Email me (via VtoV blog) and I'll point you towards alternatives. I've had a totally clear run to Dairy House every day so far. It seems that only the locals are using the A303 between Mere and Podimore roundabout. So little traffic!!
Sorry to hear about Tilly. Love the Munchkin's drawing!

hello Hen,
ReplyDeletepoor old Tilly, how very sad. There seems to be quite a few furry friends in blogland that have died recently. She looked like my childhood cat,Harvey whom I adored.
Love H's card..made me really laugh when I probably shouldn't have! I think anuntie Pat will laugh AND cry with that one.
Kids are so honest, I love that age they really come out with some gems.. x

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Tilly, but what a lovely card to receive. A great little budding artist in the making I feel!

R.I.P Tilly.....So sad when pets have to leave us, they become such dearly loved friends....
ReplyDeleteHow fitting that her final resting plave should be on the spot in the garden she enjoyed the most.....
Munchkin is such a sweet boy...I love the way he is so thoughtful, reminds me of my niece.....

Hi Hen
ReplyDeleteWhat sad news! Being a cat lover, I always feel for anyone whose cat has died. I understand all too well how that feels after having lost quite a few cats over the years. It never gets easier.
Children have a wonderful way of expressing themselves don't they, a really good letter from Munchkin.
Take care
Isabelle x
Poor Tilly, have you and the Munchkin read the book by Judith Kerr called Goodbye Mog it's a very lovely story about this subject.. Louise x
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Tilly had the best life, with your folks, for 16 years. Rest in peace, Tilly! I loved the little sympathy card the Munchkin wrote out. Have a great weekend, Hen.
ReplyDeleteI think the reason we have children is to cheer us up. They see things so matter of factly and I can just hear Paul O'Grady reading out the message about poor Tilly. Hope his card had the desired effect, it certainly made me smile.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, poor Tilly! What a sweet little boy the munchkin is making that card. I love the way you keep him so young and keep him away from grown up things. It's nice to be a child for as long as possible I think.
ReplyDeletehave a good weekend.
Sian x
Little Muchkin is the sweetest little boy. If I received the beautifully drawn card of my much loved cat or read what he wrote I would have been so very touched at his thoughtfulness and I would treasure it. I would have both laughed and cried and it would make me feel better I know. It is very sad indeed when our little furry friends come to the end of their lives but it does help to know that they had the happiest lives they could have and were well taken care of and much loved. No one could ask for more. I hope everyone who loved and misses lovely pretty little Tilly will feel less sad very soon x
ReplyDeleteSiobhan
Ahh, that's a lovely card. We have a Tilly cat too, a black and white long haired lady, nearly 14. She's getting a little querilous in her later years, yowling in the night; the vet says it's her age. I think she goes in a room and says, "Now, hang on, what did I come in here for? Suggestions anyone? What do you mean, you're asleep!? Now what did I come in here for....?"
ReplyDeleteWe love them and they leave us and we thank them by taking in another little furry person.
Hen, your munchkin is such a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI hope your folks are ok?
Have a lovely weekend Hen Household.
Luv Sophie xxx
Poor sweet Tilly, hopefully she is at peace now. Beautiful and cute card from the Munchkin too.
ReplyDeletePS I played with some beautiful Kaffe Fassett today in a wonderful shop on the Isle Of Anglesey, is growing on me and I have to say now I want more ;0)
Hugs

I cried for days when our cat died, and I was 32 at the time (oops), so I know how you are all feeling. Munchkin is adorable, how can anyone not absolutely love that card. Super writing by the way.
ReplyDeleteKate
Sorry to hear about Tilly... Munchkins card was adorable - out of the mouth of babes!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend
Victoria xx
Only the young can make you laugh and cry at the same time like that. I am sure Tilly Friend has gone to where all good cats go.
ReplyDeleteWow thought I'd never get to the end of sall those comments to leave one myself. Your Munchkin seems a delightful little fellow and like all kids gets straight to the point.
ReplyDeleteThe worst part of having a pet is when they die and they ARE part of a family. i think they teach us to be better people.
Cheers
Helen
It's always so sad to lose a beloved pet.
ReplyDeleteYour munchkin is a sweet boy wanting to make his grandparents a pretty card. He is obviously a very caring young man.
Hi Hen! I'm very sorry for your Tilly, I can imagine how your parents can feel at the moment, as pets are members of our families and share with us the everyday life, joyful or not.
ReplyDeleteHarry is such a cutie, I bet he put a big smile on your parents' faces.
xxxx

ReplyDeleteOh bless. What a thoughtful munchkin. I did snivel a little when I read his card.
ReplyDeleteIt's always sad when a pet friend passes.
That's sad, but I bet it's now on kitten heaven with no pain, playing with the flowers.
ReplyDeleteYour son is a darling creature, God bless him. And he has a talent for drawing! Well, like mom like son.
Hope your folks find comfort soon.
That lovely card and enormous grin will no doubt be just the ticket!
ReplyDeleteI remember when my best friend lost her cat and my Beautiful Girl made her a card to cheer her up, followed by another card for Charlie Cat "to cheer him up about being dead". Hmmmm....
