Hatching

There's much tweeting going on by the birdies outside today who are enjoying this spell of Spring-like weather just as much as I am. I keep looking at the garden and knowing that it is going to explode sometime soon and the multitude of weeds shall be back! Still not a daff in sight though. Indoors, we've had an early hatching of the ever-popular HenHouse owls...

I've discovered that my made-over cake stand is really rather handy for sitting beside my chair and holding my hand sewing supplies.

These ones are waiting patiently for me to sew up their sides, a job I started at 6.30am this morning. Readers of my blog frequently ask me how I get so much done. Starting working at 6.30am is one way! As the mornings get lighter and brighter, so my waking time gets earlier and earlier but I don't really mind at all as I don't want to miss a second of lovely days like these. I probably will be nodding off by about 9.30pm like an old granny, though!

This lot are finished.

I bundle the parliament into a basket and set off in search of venues to take a few snaps. I'm thinking of my lovely crocheted cushion on the bed but the big ginge has beaten us to it.

His furry black counterpart has bagged the patchwork quilt which was my other option.

Back in the den, Jemima is loving the black pinwheel cushion on my chair...

While Minty is no fool and has discovered the super-cosy eidys in the guest room...

Primrose is nestling amongst the flea market chic...

Violet and Minty are thinking of flying away and auditioning for the circus!

Phew, exhausting! Rounded up, they are behaving themselves in the Lloyd Loom crib and waiting impatiently for new owners in good time for Easter (the HenHouse Emporium will be shut for several weeks over Easter). You can have a shifty at them here should you fancy.

I'd better hope they are snapped up before a certain someone sees them and whisks them off into his pit of a room, never to be seen again!

(Playing on the swings after Sunday lunch in Chester at the weekend.)

  13. Oh my goodness, if I have to get up at 6.30 to get things done, well that's my answer as to why I don't! Lazy bones me. Mind you I do like to stay up late. Before you mentioned little Munchkin and his penchant for your lovely owlies, I was just thinking that if either I or my daughter had had one of those gorgeous owls when small, we would have dragged it everywhere with us. They look so comfy and comforting - something to cuddle, or lay your head on. A perfect cuddly friend. I love sleepy curled up cats - you quite forgive them any naughty little ways.

  14. They are so cute! I'd love to have the pattern. You should sell your patterns :) I have a little question for you. In your picture of "Primrose" on your Emporium site you've got the cutest little white radio. Where did you find it? I'm hoping it's not a vintage find...

  15. The young master looks exceptionally cool in his Fair Isle tank top, and shirt and tie, very cool indeed! Enjoyed the owl photo shoot, they're so sweet and comical, I sort of expect them to suddenly open their eyes, tweet and woo-hoo, flap their wings and attempt to launch their lovely cosy cushion bodies off their perches. 18. Firstly, the munchkin is one of the finest dressed boys I have ever seen! Such a dapper little lad. Secondly I think your owls are great especially when they are all huddled together. I think Minty may be my favourite then again I quite like Violet. It is a good job that you have made a lot. I bet they are really popular. x

  21. What a lovely parliament, they look so wise and yet cheery at the same time! I wish I had so many lovely places in my home to take photos - I'm afraid mine's a bit of a mess at the moment - couldn't find the patchwork cushions under all the washing to be done!

  22. What a busy bee you've been again Hen, they're such very pretty owls with even prettier names (I think Jemima will have to go onto my short list for kitten names!)

Love your red basket, I think it's the same as the one I keep my sweign bits and bobs in.
    Have a lovely weekend.
