The best sort of sewing ... free and easy. The strips are cut for you. Chop them up a bit more if you fancy, make little piles of fabric ... roughly white, blue and pink. Rummage through stash for long-abandoned manly shirts with frayed collars to add into the mix and make things completely one's own. Feel chuffed that knew they would come in handy one day. Hurrah!
Let's piece. Piece, piece, piece. First one, pink flowery ... next one, blue stripey. Ooh what next? How I love to piece! It's my favourite bit of the quilting process.
Piecing with furry friends, enjoying a rare communal eidy-hogging moment. What could be better?
Loooong strips of candy-striped, polka-dotted, check-shirted goodness start to emerge.
I'm excited!
With every stitch, it's looking more delicious.
Where shall it live once it's finished? I can't help thinking ahead. Always so keen to see the finished article.
The colours remind me of our newly decorated guest room.
Methinks we need to take a closer shifty in there sometime soon...

ReplyDeleteI love worn and washed jelly rolls I have used about 4 or 5 so far and have loved them all they are all so different and individual. I am using one at the moment to do a baby quilt in the toy box range I am not sure if Kim still does them? Your quilt looks lovely your seams are very neat sarah x

Def need some more piccies of that guest room!! looks yummy! Did you do that patchwork wall with bits of wallpaper or did it come like that on a roll? Love the colour on the chimney breast too - looks similar to the colour I have just painted our cloakroom.

I have TWO quilt tops waiting to be quilted. One is blues and whites, the other some gorgeous bright floral squares. So easy to knock up into a big top. So easy to stick it on the back burner because the thought of hand quilting 2 tops at the same time is more than I can cope with at the moment! I could machine quilt them, but am going off machine quilting these days, I want the softer hand which you get hand quilting. Oh well, you can't have it both ways! Loce your beautiful strips!

ReplyDeleteI love all your patchwork Hen. I wish i could do it but I have an irrational fear of the sewing machine! To answer your question about the jam splats, I cooked in an ordinary electric oven. I would reduce the temperature to maybe 170 degrees C in a fan oven and probably reduce the cooking time by 5 minutes too!
